The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), in collaboration with NGX Regulation Limited (NGX RegCo), has reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and excellence in corporate reporting with the launch of the second edition of the Corporate Reporting Award.
The prestigious award ceremony celebrated the top 30 most capitalised companies listed on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) for their outstanding performance in financial reporting for the 2023 fiscal year.
Among the honourees were Dangote Cement Plc, MTN Nigeria, and Seplat Energy Plc. The Corporate Reporting Awards serve as a benchmark for corporate transparency and a driver of best practices in financial reporting across Nigeria’s capital market.
Dangote Cement Plc stood out by clinching the Platinum Award, having excelled across all three evaluated categories: financial reporting, corporate governance, and sustainability reporting. The company was commended for its exemplary and comprehensive reporting practices that reflect a deep commitment to transparency.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NGX RegCo, Mr. Olufemi Shobanjo, emphasised the importance of corporate reporting in strengthening the Nigerian financial market.
“We gather here today to celebrate excellence in corporate reporting, which is a cornerstone of transparency and accountability in our financial markets. Corporate reporting is not merely a regulatory requirement. It is a vital practice that builds trust among investors, stakeholders, and the broader community,” Shobanjo said.
He further noted that this year’s award recognises organisations that have demonstrated a strong commitment to best practices and corporate governance, enhancing their reputations and contributing to the integrity of the capital market.
